My Journey
I’ve always had a love for fantasy and science-fiction, captivated by stories exploring vast worlds with limitless potential. I resonated with films like Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings trilogy and witnessed the passion that went into creating such impressive sets, matte paintings, and special effects, setting new film making standards for the industry. The behind-the-scene features were as interesting and sometimes as long as the movies themselves. They sparked within me a desire to put my skills and talents to the same use, blending my passions for creative world-building with my love for constructing and painting models and miniatures.
Growing Up
In College
While studying in college I found my stride in model and miniature painting after joining the Dungeons and Dragons club on campus. I began with painting my own figure, then leapt to painting my friends’, then taking commissions for other members of the club, to running games and painting figure after figure of enemies to throw at them all! With each model I tried new techniques or used new materials, broadening the scope of my craft. After graduating I pursued jobs in the field of stagecraft, wearing many different hats, learning a variety of skills at a wide range of theaters and film studio gigs. I’ve had the pleasure of constructing sets for stage plays and scale models for online live play Dungeons and Dragons shows like Dropout’s “Dimension 20”.
After 7 years of work
I am continuing to broaden my horizons, learning new skills and adding new tools to my workbench. Beyond just miniature painting, I do prop fabrication, electrical work, casting and molding, stage carpentry, and a multitude of other trades. I ambitiously pursue any opportunity I get to grow, and I truly love this line of work. Not only is it relaxing and meditative, but deeply rewarding as well. It is a gift that every day I get to fulfill my childhood dreams of blending both my practical skills and personal passions. I am looking forward to the next 7 years. eager to continue developing my talents, and excited for you all to see the work I post to this site as I learn and progress!
